Why certify the cabling plant?

Telecommunications cabling is often a "last thought" element of the building services for today's offices. This is despite the essential part voice and data communications plays in the daily operations of a business.

Cabling is often a "last thought" for a number of reasons:

• It's the requirement that's hidden from view in the walls, above the ceiling or beneath the floor, and all the user sees is the wall plate to plug the phone or computer into.
  
• It's a static facility. Once installed, nothing ever happens to it.
